Irish Coffee

Irish Coffee1

Now that the weather has cooled off and autumn is here to stay, there’s nothing I love more than inviting a big group of friends over to share a meal together. It’s comfort food season, after all, and all things roasted, bubbling and warm have a way of hitting the spot. But often my favorite part of the meal is that sweet time after everyone has eaten – when they’re happily full, and the conversations are still going, and everyone kicks back and decides to stay awhile longer to hang out and catch up. It’s that great moment when you know people are having a good time.

And it’s that perfect interlude in the evening for some after-dinner coffee. Or if you want to kick things up a notch, break out the Jameson and make some Irish coffee! Or, if you really want to kick things up another notch, make the brewing part of the entertainment with the new KitchenAid® Siphon Coffee Brewer.

It’s no secret that I love a good cup of coffee, and that I also love experimenting with just about every possible way to brew a good cup of coffee. So when I heard that KitchenAid had come out with their super-cool new Siphon Coffee Brewer, I couldn’t wait to try it out.

Turns out, it’s just as much fun to watch the Siphon Coffee Brewer works its magic, as it is to enjoy the mega delicious pot of coffee that it brews. Really. It’s swirling, bubbling, vacuum technology has already stolen the show at many a brunch and dinner party at my place. And its precise temperature technology guarantees a bright, strong pot of coffee every time.

It’s also extra delicious when brewed with high-quality, ethically-sourced beans that have been coarsely ground with the new KitchenAid® Burr Grinder. With 15 different settings, this grinder is sure to help you make the most of your beans. And with its durable stainless steel grinding burrs, it’s solid, and sure to last for many more cups of coffee to come. I plan to keep mine for a long, long time.

Alright, well with those perfectly ground beans and amazingly brewed cups of coffee, let’s make some Irish Coffee!

There are a hundred different variations you can make on this drink. But the classic version only requires a few simple ingredients:

Freshly-brewed coffee (regular or decaf)

Irish whiskey (or any kind of whiskey)

Sweetener (if desired)

Cream (whipped, of course!)

Simply stir a shot of whiskey with a cup of coffee and a tablespoon (more or less) of your desired sweetener (any sugar will do).

Then add some whipped cream on top, garnished (if desired) with some freshly-grated nutmeg or chocolate shavings.

It’s a simple, comforting drink that everyone is sure to enjoy.

And that Irish whiskey will help you warm up in the cooler fall temperatures too! Enjoy!
